MEET THE MAKERS
Fatima Amhzaz
Fatima Ahzmaz was born in 1988 in AkhfNighir. She is married with two kids. Fatima has never been to school which made her learn the textile craft from a young age. This craft is practiced by most of the women in the AkhfNighir region. With this craft Fatima supports her husband and kids.
Malika Ait Assa
Malika was born in Amlghas, and is now married. She learned carpet weaving when she was a child from her mom.
Malika Aajijin
Malika was born in 1986. She is married with two kids. Fatima lives in Amghles Village where she learned how to weave from her mom, which is the main activity for women in that region. She joined the association in order to support her family.
VISIT THE VILLAGE
Imelghas Women's Cooperative hosts visitors in their village — share tea, watch the artisans at work, and see the craft up close. Visits start at $17 per person, and most of it goes straight to the group.
