Cooperative Tisseuses is most well known for their hanbel rugs. While hanbel rugs are commonly found through the Middle Atlas mountains, the contemporary design found on most are large said to have started in Ain Leuh. Regardless of the origin of these rugs, they still set the trends in the wider weaving community. The symbols on these rugs reflect different criteria of Amazigh women such as courage which is represented by the lion eyes.
My name is Fatima Abbarao, born in 1967. I am married and have two children. I couldn't pursue my education, so I joined the cooperative to support myself and my family financially. I learned textile work from my mother.
