The designs made by the association are rooted in the long weaving history of the region. Many of these rugs, known as Taznakht rugs, are made distinct by bright reds and yellows, colors that represent the landscape in which the rugs were made.

MEET THE MAKERS
Atrbik Hasna
Hasna is the mother of two small children and has been weaving all of her life. She learned how to weave from her aunt when she was very young. She studied until the sixth grade and had to stop studying after that. In lieu of the school, Hasna has been able to continue developing her weaving skills at the association. Though she earns little from her weaving, she hopes that through the association there will be greater global demand for her villageβs rugs!
VISIT THE VILLAGE
Association Timouzounin hosts visitors in their village — share tea, watch the artisans at work, and see the craft up close. Visits start at $21 per person, and most of it goes straight to the group.
