Saida was born in 1985 and never married. She left school after her primary education because there was no secondary school in the area. Saida learned and utilizes the craft of embroidery and sewing, and wants to teach other women in the village who have left school these skills so that they may gain sustainable income.
Naima was born in 1978, and attended school through the fifth grade. Naima left school because of family troubles and because of the distance between her childhood home and the location of the school. She is an active member of the cooperative.
This intricately handcrafted rug has both pill and flatweave sections. The combination of methods of weaving allow the weavers to depict scenes of of Moroccan landscapes and peoples in detail.
