Mohamed Houssni was born in 1965 in Essaouira. He is married and has a daughter. He started as an apprentice making wodem frames for a painter. His mentor encouraged him to learn the art of leather painting which Mohamed took up under his mentor's guidance. He has been making leather art pieces for 10 years and is a skilled artisan in his own right. He wants to share his art and work with the world. He hopes to increase his income to make a better life for him and his family. He wishes Anou to grow as a platform for all artists across Morocco. He makes custom calligraphy for an Arabic name and othe designs.
This painting is made on thin leather strips with pigment and ink made from walnut tree dust. The Hamsa hand is the symbol of patience, loyalty, faith and resistance against difficulties.
