Khadija is from Suroup, a small village outside of the Warzazat region. Khadja is married and is the mother of nine children, all of whom are married, and one of whom is studying in university. Khadhja learned the craft from her uncle's wife when she was younger. When Khadija heard about the association from a friend in the village, she joined immediately. She thinks that the association is wonderful for her and for the craft of Moroccan weaving. She hopes to be able to earn income from the association so that she can assist her family and continue to build her house. Khadija hopes one day to use her income to go on her Hajj.
The designs made by the association are rooted in the long weaving history of the region. Many of these rugs, known as Taznakht rugs, are made distinct by bright reds and yellows, colors that represent the landscape in which the rugs were made.
