ABOUT THIS RESIDENCY
Tithrite is the first artisan-led residency in the Anou network. Drawing on what they've learned hosting residents at Anou's HQ in Fez, the cooperative is now opening their own workshop to weavers and makers who want to learn directly from them.
ROOM & BOARD
Residents stay with the family of an Tithrite artisan, in a private room within their home. The setup is basic but welcoming — expect simple, comfortable accommodation and home-cooked meals shared with the family. Living alongside your hosts is part of the experience: a window into village life and the rhythms that shape the work.
THE EXPERIENCE
Residents work alongside Tithrite artisans through the full arc of rug-making including setting up the loom and introduction to weaving. Each stage is taught hands-on, at the pace of the participant. For those interested, there's also the chance to learn Moroccan cooking with the family — making bread, tagines, and the daily meals that anchor village life.
THE VILLAGE
Tithrite is based in Aït Hamza, a small farming village just two hours south of Fes. The village sits along a river at the foot of large mountains, with onion fields stretching across the valley floor — Aït Hamza is known throughout the region for its onions, and farming sets the rhythm of daily life here.
